Mary Dean Powers

Timmonsville -Mary Dean Stokes Lynch Powers, mother of Mamie Elizabeth Lynch and Martha Jane( Gary) Hanwell,passed to her heavenly reward on December 17, 2014.She was 88 years old.A celebration of her life will be held atLayton-Anderson Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014 at 2:30p.m. Visitation will be prior to theservice at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Dean was the lastremaining child of Mamie Benton Stokes and Will C. Stokes.

She was preceded in death byeleven siblings. Mary was married to Thomas R. Powers for thirty-eight yearsbefore his death in 2008.She was aloving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.

Mary Dean spent her lifededicated to her family, her church and community.She was a lifelong member of First BaptistChurch of Timmonsville, SC where she was actively involved until she moved to Anderson, SCto live with her daughter.She was ahumble Lady with a heart full ofgrace.She loved going to the seniorlunches at area churches and singings at the church.If you wanted to see her face light up, justmention one of her grandchildren,(Vanya, Emily and Binh and James andChristina) or great grandchildren (Caleb, Thomas, Sam Jagger and Ella.) She would love to show you their pictures andtell you all about them.
