Florence, SC – Mary Elizabeth Filyaw Gainey, 72, passed away on Thursday, December  9, 2021.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Leo and Nadine Rich Filyaw.  She was a member of Effingham Church of God.  Mary was the owner of a Merchandising Recycle business in Florence for many years.

She was married to the late Jerry Gainey.

Surviving are; two daughters, Wanda (Walter) Capps, Lynn (Pete Lawrence) Stone; brother, Jimmy Filyaw; sister, Dorothy Munn; her seven grandchildren, Lauren Stone, Brandon Collins, Jessica C. (Austin) Creel, Randy (Hali) Capps, Chandler Collins, Cayden Lawrence and Carolina Collins; eight great-grandchildren, Anna Belle Capps,

Ellie Capps, Lincoln McClellan, twins, Cannon & Nolan McClellan, R.J. McClellan, Braydon Collins and Avery Collins.  Surviving also is her" special friend", Henry Welch.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Dwayne and Timmy Collins, brothers, Ronnie and Wayne Filyaw.
