Timmonsville, SC – James Marvin Parnell, 91, went to his heavenly home, Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service and other times at his residence.

Mr. Parnell was born in Florence County, the son of the late Nolan Roy and Ettie Howell Parnell.  He received his BS Degree from Clemson University in 1953.  After graduation he served in the US ARMY at Ft. Benning, Georgia and a tour in Ulm, Germany.  He began his career with Clemson University Extension and retired with 30 years of service in Florence and Darlington Counties as a County Agent.  Marvin was active in various Civic and Community organization.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Frances Ham Parnell; daughter, Debra Stewart; grandchildren, Jake Stewart, Grace (Matt) Miles; great-grandchildren, Luke Stewart, Salem Stewart, Eli Miles, Logan Miles, Addie Kate Miles and Nolan Miles. He is preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Jordan and brother, Edward Parnell.

Memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 1356 Meander Dr., Timmonsville, SC.
