Martha Turbeville Clarke, 79, entered into rest on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Born in Sumter, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frances Warren Turbeville and the late Mamie Rae Hollman Turbeville.
Martha found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved spending time in her garden, carefully tending to her prized tomatoes and beautiful roses, which flourished under her care. Her dogs were constant companions and brought her endless happiness. She was a wonderful cook whose meals filled both hearts and homes with warmth. After a long and successful career in the banking industry, she retired as a loan officer, having spent many years helping others achieve their goals and dreams. She also loved to travel, embracing new places, experiences, and adventures whenever she could. Above all, she cherished her children and grandchildren, delighting in every moment spent with them and sharing her love, wisdom, and kindness. Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life, guiding her with grace and strength. After a long and courageous battle with Dementia and cancer, she passed on peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the unwavering faith that carried her through life's challenges. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her son, Harold Donaghe (Megan) of Florence, SC; daughter, Felisha Kingsley (Scott) of Tampa, FL; stepchildren, Vaughan Clarke (Vicki), Stephan Clarke ( Gayle); grandchildren, Robbie Kingsley (Alyssa), Will Kingsley, Andrew Kingsley, Caleb Donaghe, Nicholas Donaghe, Austin McKinley, Blakeland Harrison (Anna), April Paris, Allison Young, Andy Clarke, Aaron Clarke, Madison Clarke; several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clarke; stepson, Richard Clarke.
The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Ms. Ida and Ms. Wanda, for their compassion and lovingkindness in caring for Martha.
In lieu of a public service, a private family scattering of ashes will take place at sea to honor Martha’s memory.
The Directors of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home are caring for the family.
