IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn (Pierce)
Powers
June 14, 2025
Marilyn Pierce Powers, 85, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina.
Born on October 15, 1939, in Timmonsville, South Carolina, she lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and faith.
Marilyn was the daughter of Marco and Lois Pierce and grew up surrounded by the values that would guide her throughout her life. She pursued a career in nursing and served as a registered nurse at McLeod Regional Medical Center until her retirement. Her work reflected her deep sense of care and commitment to others—a hallmark of her character.
A devoted wife to the late Talmadge Richard Powers Jr., Marilyn was also a loving mother to her three children: Brenda Cox (James), Kenneth Powers (LaRena), and Kelvin Powers. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren—Jennifer Powers, Chris Cox, Ashlyn Cox, and Sabrina Powers—and to her great-grandchildren Eliza Cox and Easton Cox. She cherished every moment spent with them and found immense joy in their presence.
Marilyn was a beloved sister to Ronald Pierce (Frances), Bobby Pierce (Linda), and Steve Pierce (Carol). Her bond with her siblings remained strong throughout the years, rooted in shared memories and mutual respect.
Faith played a central role in Marilyn's life. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. After relocating to the upstate region of South Carolina, she continued to live out her Christian values actively within the communities she called home.
Outside of her professional and spiritual life, Marilyn found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved to travel and explore new places. Her garden was a source of pride and peace—a place where she could connect with nature. Most of all, she treasured time spent with family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Those who knew Marilyn remember her as kind and compassionate—a devoted wife, loving mother and nana, wonderful sister, and true friend. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched with grace and warmth.
