Deerfield Beach, Florida – Margaret Mitchell Evans, 77, formerly of Florence, peacefully entered Heaven on March 6, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was welcomed into Heaven's gates by her late husband Lory M. Evans, Jr. who was no doubt asking, "I've missed you, what took you so long?" Margaret was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late Luther Clyde and Cornelia Odom Mitchell. She graduated from McClenaghan High School. She married Lory and subsequently lived 40 plus years in Miami, Florida where they raised their two children, and she leaves behind many long time friends.

Margaret was known for her hard work ethic,starting with teaching pre-school children for many years and then for her many years of dedication to Publix Supermarkets. Margaret's greatest passions, after the love of her family, was her love for good southern cooking and baking, you could always taste the love in each bite. Margaret always put everyone else first. She was an avid reader and supporter of disabled veterans.

Surviving are her son, Dana (Jo) Evans; a daughter, Marjorie "Cookie" (Glenn) Troast; grandchildren, Seth and Mason Evans, Evan and Meaghan Troast.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 before the service at the funeral home.
