Obituary

Florence, SC - Mack T. Driggers, Jr, 86, passed away, Friday, November 3, 2017 following a sudden illness. A funeral service will be Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will have a time of visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. before the service at the Funeral Home.

Surviving are a daughter, Gail M. Woodham, her husband Marion, and their daughter, Charmayne "Charli" Morgan (Will Bazen); his son, M. Thad Driggers, III, his wife, Cathy, and their children, M. Thad Driggers, IV, (Katee); Meagan Driggers (Rob Jordan)and Eric Driggers (Lindsay), grandchild, Terry "TJ" Driggers of Sumter, SC and five great-grandchildren, all of Florence, SC. sisters: Annie R. Lafon (C. W.) of Norfolk, VA; Patricia Driggers of Witchita KS; brothers: Thomas B. Driggers (Doris) of Kannapolis, NC; McDaniel Driggers, Coward, SC.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, G. Virginia Coates Driggers; his father, Mack T. Driggers Sr.; his mother, L. Geneva Driggers; step mother, Doris Adams Driggers; a son, Terry Wayne Driggers; two brothers, Laverne Driggers and Sammy Driggers; three sisters, Marie Stokes, W. Mae Natal, Joyce Cribb, and a son in law, James E. "Jimmy" Morgan, Jr.

As a child Mack was raised on a farm and later moved to Richmond Virginia, where he owned and operated several service stations. Later he returned and remained in Florence with his family. At the time of his retirement he was self employed as a food distributor. He was a devoted Christian and member of The Church of God of Prophecy for more than 50 years. He has served his church in many capacities over the years but will be remembered for holding the door open every Sunday with a hand shake and a "Thank you for coming today" until the last member left.

Mack loved the outdoors and we all have memories of seeing him in his swing under the trees enjoying a beautiful day. He had a passion for fishing and spent many days at Santee and local ponds. He loved being with his family and having the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We all are going to miss you "Daddy", "Pops", "Granddaddy", "Mack"
