Florence – Lowell A. Jennings, 78, died quietly on Thursday morning Jan 21,2016.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the Hephzibah Vance Cemetery in Augusta, GA. A time of visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Augusta, GA.
Mr. Jennings was born in Augusta, GA, the son of the late George Henry, Sr. and Estelle Elizabeth Glisson Jennings. He was a graduate of Western Carolina University. He was a two way starter for the Western Carolina football team. Lowell graduated with a degree in education and taught in schools in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. During his tenure he also served as Principal in some of the school systems.
Surviving are his son, Lowell "Andy" (Sharon) Jennings,Jr. San Diego CA; three daughters, Amy (Barry) Hulsey, Florence, Laurie (Ken) Russo, Louisville, Colorado, Karen (Matthew) Vandzura, Grand Canyon, Arizona; brothers, Robert Lee (Peggy) Jennings, Franklin Eugene Jennings; sister, Louisa Estelle J. Nix and his ten grandchildren, Renn Gordon, Caitlin Hulsey, Benjamin Daly, Caleb Russo, Isaac Russo, Abigail Russo, Gideon Russo, Aidan Jennings, Case Jennings, Luke Jennings and one great-grandchild, Skylynn Gordon. He is preceded in death by two brothers, George Henry, Jr and Winston Anthony Jennings and his sister, Helen Elizabeth J. Canfield.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
