Florence, SC – Laurie Silas Alexander, 81, formerly of Timmonsville passed away on June 23, 2018.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.

Laurie was born in Florence County, SC, the son of the late Jessie Clifton and Mavie Jolly Alexander.He was retired from the Florence School District as a Maintenance Supervisor. He served his country in the US Army.

He was married to the late Gladys Atkinson Alexander who passed away in March 2018.

Surviving are two sons, Calvin (Lisa) Alexander, Cecil (Lisa) Alexander; a daughter, Charissa Rushing; three brothers, Russell Alexander, John Alexander, Jack Alexander; a sister, Fran Lovelace; ten grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, Frank and Jessie Alexander and two sisters, Ruth Springs and Alma Jean Brown,
