Obituary

Larry Dean Hemminger,70, retired from this earthly home to begin his new heavenly journey on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

A memorial service will be Friday, June 20, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will speak to those attending after the service.

Mr. Hemminger was born in Clinton, Illinois, the son of the late Charles and Mary Ballenger Hemminger.  He served his country in the US Navy on the USS BerkleyDDG-15, Destroyer.  Larry was a Service Manager for a Parts Supply Company.  He was a devoted husband and father.  He loved to fish and hunt until he lost his eye sight in 1999.

He was a faithful member of Cartersville Baptist Church and loved his church family.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Linda Stokes Hemminger; two daughters, Chastity (Jimmy) Wilson, April (Matt) Korniotes; grandchildren, Brantley Wiselka, Abigail Gracie Wilson, Madison Korniotes, Lincoln Korniotes; niece, Amy Hemminger; nephews, Jason Lake, Matthew Hemminger, Ricky Hemminger; three great nieces and his fur babies, Bella, Ruby, Buddy and feline companions, Annie and Casey.  He is preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Gary Hemminger.

Memorials may be made to Cartersville Baptist Church, c/o Liston Weatherly, 2515 McDaniel Ave, Timmonsville, SC  29161.

For their care and support during Larry's illness, the family would like to thank Comfort Keepers, and Agape Hospice. A special thanks to Natasha Washington  of Comfort Keepers and Jessica from the Agape group, Sharita Washington from Hospice and Chaplain Eddie Strickland of Hospice.
