Florence, SC – Leonard Everette Hayes, 88, died at the McLeod Hospice House on Sunday, October 9, 2016 after an illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hayes was born in Rowland, NC the son of the late Leonard and Eutha Snipes Hayes. He served his country in the US Army. Everette worked at Wellman Industries and later was a Security Guard. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Surviving are: his wife of forty years, Sondra McKay Hayes, Florence; his children, Chase Lewis, Kristian Lewis and Kerry Lewis and Ronnie Hayes; a sister, Lannie Rippy; a brother, Gilbert (Hazel) Hayes and a grandchild, Caity Hayes. He is preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnne Hayes and a sister, Lorene Hardwick.
