IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Elton
Wiggins
March 29, 2017
Georgetown - Eleanor Joyce Elton Wiggins, 91, formerly of Florence, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Services will be Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel at Layton- Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will speak to those attending from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday before the service at the Funeral Home. Joyce was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of the late Eleanor Pearl and Alfred Christensen Elton. During World War II, she met and married the love of her life, Joe Rufus Wiggins of Florence, SC, where they made their home and reared their four children. Although motherhood was her favorite fulltime job, it was followed closely by her work with Tommy Edwards, City Manager of Florence, as his secretary. For her work there she received a key to the city. Joyce was a life long member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a faithful member of the Church in Georgetown. Joyce was predeceased by her husband and oldest son, Joe Allen Wiggins. She is survived by her daughter, Janis W. (Larry) Harvey, Georgetown; Evan Wiggins, New Orleans, LA, Danny "Boone" (Lucia Thompson) Wiggins, Timmonsville, SC; daughter-in-law, Mary McGee Wiggins, Florence; granddaughters, Ellie (Tom) Smith, Charleston, Tara Wiggins, Myrtle Beach, Lori (Jeff) Rosebrugh, Wilmington, Marissa (Bruce) Walters, Hartsville; grandsons, Greg (Meredith) Bates, Burlington, VT, Billy (Kim) Newsome, Columbia, SC, Alan (Sharon) Newsome, Garden City, SC; brothers, Leonard Dale (Janis) Elton, Bountiful, Utah, Douglas Lin (Peggy) Elton, Sandy, Utah. Her last years were blessed with the abundant joy of a close relationship with two of her great-grandchildren Perry and Whit Smith. She was able to visit with them weekly and spoil them with 100% of her time, as only a great-grandmother can do. To mourn her passing are her two devoted caregivers, Marsha Butler and Angie Lee. The family extends its deepest gratitude for their loyal and compassionate care. Our special thanks to Angie's daughter Carmen Lee, for the joy she brought "Grandma Joyce". Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, SC is assisting the family with arrangements. You are invited to sign the guestbook at www.laytonandersonfh.com
