Lamar, SC – Joyce Gertrude Tolson Warr, passed away at McLeod Hospice House on Sept. 28, 2016.

Services will begin with a visitation in the Fellowship Hall of Lamar First Baptist Church, Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. and will continue with a service in the sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Lamar, SC.

Joyce was the daughter of the late T.J. and Gertrude Tolson. She attended Coker College. Joyce was an especially dedicated member of Lamar First Baptist Church where she started the first kindergarten in 1967 and taught Sunday School for many years. The Joyce Warr Group continues to carry on her legacy. She was also the first female U.S. Postal Service Carrier in Timmonsville, SC.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Preston Warr; three children and their spouses, Beth Warr Schmid and her husband, Marty, Gene Warr and his wife Didi, and Caroline Warr and her husband, Phillip Friedland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Schmid Clonts and her husband, Forrest, Marty Schmid, Jr. and his wife Susan, and Rachel and Matthew Warr; a great-granddaughter Caroline Clonts, three brothers and their wives, Al and Terry Tolson, Richard and Penny Tolson, Mike and Marsha Tolson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia Warr and Bob Warr (Ann); seven nieces and nephews, Katherine Woodham (Jerry Laney), Robert Warr, Jr. (Pam), Paige Tolson, Tara Heptinstall (Shaun), Ashley Lohr (Paul), Brad Tolson (Ashley), and Michelle Bridges (Derek); two great-nieces and ten great-nephews. Joyce also leaves behind several close cousins. She was pre-deceased by sister-in-law, Phebe Warr.
