Joshua Dwayne Collins, 34, entered into rest on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
He was born in Florence, SC and graduated from Florence-Darlington Technical College.
Surviving are his wife, Jessica Taylor Collins; children, Ashton Collins (10), Dylan Collins (3); mother, Kimberly Strother Collins; brother, Hunter Collins (Meagan); grandparents, Vicki Strother, Sonja Piere; mother-in-law, Donna Craig (Brian); father-in-law, Jesse Craig; brother-in-law, Jarrett Craig (Ivy); niece, Lilah Collins; nephews, Haiden Collins, Woods Craig, Will Craig. His aunt and uncle, Sherri & Kevin Kenyon, special cousins Spencer Kenyon (Meredith), Conner Kenyon (Eliza), and Bailey Kenyon. He had many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved and cherished.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Collins; paternal grandfather, Wayne Collins; and his maternal grandfather with whom he shared an unbreakable bond with, Charles Strother.
He was a strong, hardworking man with a huge heart, especially when it came to the people he loved most. His greatest joy in life was being a father. He could fix just about anything and was happiest when he was outdoors, working with his hands, tinkering on a project, or spending time with his family. If something was broken, he was the one everyone called. He carried a toughness about him, but those closest to him knew the soft heart underneath, especially for his children and his wife, whom he loved more than anything. He was proud to be a family man and, at heart, still his mama’s boy.
Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. His family was his entire world, and the love he gave them will continue to live on in every memory, every lesson, and every quiet moment that reminds them of him. He was especially proud of his younger brother, Hunter, who he shared an unbreakable bond with
Though our hearts are broken, we will remember him for his strength, the lives he impacted in his short life, and the immense love he had for his family.
A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Unity Christian Fellowship with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. The Directors of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home are caring for the family.
The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Trauma Surgical Care Unit at McLeod Health for the compassionate care they provided following his accident. We are especially thankful for the kindness shown by the child life specialist and for Sugar, the therapy dog, whose comfort brought moments of peace during an unimaginably difficult time.
