Florence- John Joseph Tyler, Sr, died Monday January 9, 2017 in a local hospital.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

John was born in Marion County, the son of the late Henry Kemp and Fronie Ray Tyler. He attended Crusade for Christ Mission. John was retired from DuPont with 37 years as a Supervisor in the Finishing Department and lab. John loved spending time with his family, fishing and carpentry.

Surviving are: his wife of 32 years, Mary Ard Tyler; two sons, John J, Jr.( Amy) Tyler, Curtis B. (Mandy) Burr; three daughters, Shannon (Jonathan) Chandler, Mandelyn (Jeff) Davis, Amy (Weston) Jordan; five sisters, Eunice Martin, Lois Graham, Mary Martin, Angie Gunter and Clara Hancock; eight grandchildren, Madison Tyler, Devan Tyler, Ethan Tyler, Curt Burr, Carter Burr, Mandelyn Grace Davis, John Alton Chandler, Atticus Jordan and grandbaby number nine on the way.
