On Saturday, October 12, 2024 John R. Harrison, III departed this earthly home and entered into his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will share a time of visitation and fellowship beginning at 5:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.

John was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late John R. Harrison, Jr and Anne Howell Harrison.  He was a mechanic at heart and could fix almost anything.  He enjoyed exploring the mechanism of how guns and motors are made, taking them apart and putting them back together.  He was baptized in his home church, Ardmore Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He had a passion for bringing home rescue animals.

Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Brandi Owens Harrison; brothers, J. and his wife Shelia Harrison, Nelson Overman; brother-in-law Travis and his wife April Owens; nieces, Jade Harrison, Tessa Owens, Olivia Owens; nephew, Landon Owens, his mother and father-in-law, Brenda and Terry Owens.   John had a friend of many years that was like a brother and his best friend, Will Bircham.
