Florence, SC – John Thomas DeLung, 79, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 in a local hospital after an illness.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to those attending after the service. A private Entombment will follow at a later time.

Mr. DeLung was born in Dothan, West Virginia, the son of the late John Russell and Arizona Lafferty DeLung. He retired after serving in the US Navy. After leaving the Navy, John continued service to others as a Public Safety Officer for Francis Marion University. He also served for several years as a volunteer firefighter for Windy Hill Volunteer Fire Company in the early 1990's.

Surviving are his wife, Violet Hancock DeLung; a daughter, Vanessa (Foye) Kelly; two sons, John (Cathy) DeLung, Jeff (Mary) DeLung; a brother, Frankie DeLung; sister, Betty Buckland, seven loving grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
