IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joe
Dawkins
January 10, 1966 – April 14, 2025
Joe Dawkins, 59, of Timmonsville went home to meet his Jesus on Monday, April 14, 2025. Born William Joseph Dawkins, he was the son of the late William Hoyt and Mary Carroll Langston Dawkins. After his mom's passing, Jean Dawkins stepped seamlessly into that role and played a crucial part in his life. He worked for McCall Farms for 37 years. Most of that time was spent as a truck driver going up and down the East Coast. He spent the last few years in a supervisor position where he traded in his keys for a keyboard. Joe was an active member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church where he served in many ways. Joe loved his family. Spending every moment he could making memories with the ones he loved truly brought him the most joy. He loved to joke and the more he loved you, the harder he would pick. Joe was known by many as "The Coffee Man". His coffee cup was an extension of his arm and you weren't going to visit him and not get offered a cup of your own. He loved to grill and was always up for trying new recipes. Joe loved to fish but wasn't very successful at bringing anything home. But again, he was really just happy to be making memories. He loved all things car, gun and history related. He could talk to anybody and always left the other person with a smile. He had a tough exterior at times but that came with the biggest heart. There isn't anybody that he wouldn't have tried to help. If you called him with a problem, he'd drop everything and say, "Hold tight. I'm on my way". He was a huge animal lover and loved none more than his two "puppies" who will miss him more than anything, Laney and Gracie. He is survived by his wife, Karen Moran Dawkins of 11 years and his sisters, Robin Dawkins and Kimberlyn Poston. He leaves behind his beloved children, Shelby Dawkins and Brock (Liz) Dawkins. His family grew through marriage with the addition of Ashley (Tim) Rogers, Michael Rogers, Kathryn (Thomas) Rogers and Nichole (Dylan) Rogers. He is also survived by one of his biggest joys, his grandchildren: Kaylen, McKinley, Luke, Liam, Reece, Lawson, Pierson, Hallie, Haigan, Wrenley, Ledger, Drake and Hazel; niece, Brittany Dawkins; great nephew, Everett; aunt, Joyce Wilson, and a long list of cousins that he loved. He's preceded in death by his brother Max L. Poston and granddaughters Emerson and Everleigh. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Lake Swamp Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Memorials can be made to Lake Swamp Baptist Church, 6558 Oates Highway, Timmonsville, SC 29161.
