Joan Floyd Strickland passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 22, 2025.
Born on July 18, 1937, in Mullins, SC, Joan was the cherished daughter of Zetha and Edward Floyd. She enjoyed a fulfilling career with Union Carbide and later continued her professional journey with ESAB Welding until her retirement. After retiring, she enjoyed travelling with her husband, family and dear friends.
Joan was known for her radiant smile, deep love for her family, unwavering faith and dedication to the church. She leaves a beautiful legacy of love and faith, having served the Lord with all her heart and gently instilled Christian values in her family - guiding them with grace and devotion.
She is survived by her beloved children: Larianne S. (Bill) Barnette, Suzette S. (Burton) Welsh, Edward F. (Anna Marie) Strickland, all of Timmonsville; seven grandchildren, Katherine B. (Richard) Pinillos, Shelley Welsh, B.J. (Brittni) Welsh, Kayla S. (Shane) Keith, William Barnette III, Britni B. (Cody) Seigler, and Chase (Lexi) Strickland; and six great-grandchildren, Mason McGuire, Jase Keith, Tanner and Tate Welsh, Abigail Seigler, and Harper Strickland.
Joan was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Larry Douglas Strickland and her parents Zetha and Edward Floyd.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, at Sardis Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her special caregiver of four years - Ms. Minetta Cotton; to her care team from Agage Care Group - Ms. Stacey Galloway, Ms. Janice Dickson, and Ms. Shamika Belin - for their compassionate and loving care of Mrs. Joan throughout her journey with dementia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joan's memory to: Sardis Baptist Church at 3129 Sardis Hwy, Sardis, SC 29161 or Agape Care Group at 301 Rainbow Drive, Florence, SC 29501.
