Jimmy "Jim" Ray Woods, 85, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 following an extended illness.
Funeral services with military honors will be Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. For the convenience of family that cannot attend the service it will be live streamed on Layton-Anderson Funeral Home facebook. Burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the Funeral Home Thursday evening Dec. 19, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Woods was born in Rhodhiss, North Carolina, the son of the late Harley and Maude Bean Woods. He worked in the parts department as the Parts Manager at Palmetto Nissan before retiring. After retiring there, he went to work as a Store Manager at Fast Track store chain.
Jim served his country in the Navy and then the Army. He was a member of Timmonsville Southern Methodist Church. He was very active in the church. Jim has a canine companion, "Dixie" that stayed with him until the end.
Jim was married to the late Janell Woods.
Surviving are a son, Lindon Woods and Dahlia; daughters, Regina (John) Synder, Candace (Dickey) Stricklen; brother, Dean Woods; sister, Phyllis (Gary) Minton; five grandchildren, Barbara (Andy) Berg, Dennis (Laura) Woods, Debbie (Brian) Faircloth, Clayton Stricklen, Coty Stricklen; eight great grandchildren, Zachary and Emily Berg, Leila (Spencer) Faircloth, Bo Faircloth, Jacob Faircloth, Coty Stricklen, Jr, Audrey Sticklen, Brianna Faircloth and numerous of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren, James Woods and D.J. Stricklen ; brothers, Ned Bean, Joe Woods; sisters, Mary Wike, Kat Teague, Glenna Combs.
The family would like to thank Patriot Hospice for the love and care given to Mr. Woods During his illness, especially his "Angels" Hannah Thornton, Jenny Cox and Yolanda Mumford.
