Gerald " Jerry" Dorriety, 72, closed his eyes in the earthly journey and awaken in his new heavenly home on August 6, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Florence.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. before the service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Dorriety was born in Florence County, the son of the late Vivian and Teenie Mae Ward Dorriety.  He retired as a Machinist, working at the Timmonsville Honda Plant.

Jerry was a devoted Christian and a member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.  He loved to play golf, gardening, fishing, spending time with his family and cutting grass.  He enjoyed the Saturday morning fellowship with friends having Breakfast at Bazens Restaurant.

Surviving are; his wife of 53 years, Bunny Turbeville Dorriety; son, Sean (Denise) Dorriety; brother, Cecil (Sandra) Dorriety; sister, Carol (James) Sims; two grandchildren, Morgan (Zach) Bullard and Bryson (Brianna) Dorriety; his three great-grandchildren, Carter, Josie and Drayton and a great-granddaughter coming in December.

On Friday evening from 5 to 8:00 p.m. the family will host a time of fellowship in the Fellowship Hall at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.
