Timmonsville, SC – Eleanor Janice Copeland Pigate, 83, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Mausoleum.  Social distancing will be observed and masks are required.

Jan was born in Lamar, SC, the daughter of the late Frank D. Copeland and Sudie Mae Carter Copeland.  She was an LPN in the original Bruce Hospital System. She was a school board member of Florence School District #4.  She was Past Matron of Benton Chapter #172 order of the Eastern Star, Timmonsville, SC until they consolidated with Leonora Chapter # 30.   Jan loved to play Bridge with her friends. She was a devoted member of Timmonsville First Baptist Church, where she was  involved with many of the church activities.

She was married to the late James D. "Jimmy" Pigate who passed away in May of 2021.

Surviving are two sons, John R. (Joanie) Prentice, Jr, Franklin Lloyd Prentice; a daughter, Janice P. Raines; brother, Frank "Bud" ( Becky) Copeland, Jr.; special step-daughter, Celia Ardis; her special grandson, Daniel Prentice and  her 3 granddaughters.   She is preceded in death by a sister, Roxanne C. Richardson and a brother, Grier Copeland.
