Florence, SC – Janet Brown Walkup, 70, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 after complications from surgery this past Friday.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening,  July 20, 2023 at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Janet was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late David Gordon and Marjorie Wilson Brown.  She worked many years at McLeod Hospital as a Medical Technologist.  Janet had a huge capacity for love and shared it with coworkers, family and friends.  She especially loved children and all God's creatures.  Janet had a number of passions, but working with her flowers and plants had a special place in her heart.  Janet loved her animals, but her dog Scooby was very special to her.

Surviving are her husband of 10 years, Richard D. Walkup; son, James Walkup; daughter, Helen Walkup (Zachary) Gonzalez; brothers, Kevin Gordon (Wyndee) Brown, Leonard David Brown; and her two grandchildren, Emerlyn Dorothy Gonzalez, Anderson Josephine Gonzalez.  She is preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Russell Brown, John Mitchell "Johnny Mac" Brown.
