Timmonsville- Janet Collins Matthews, 68, died Jan. 12, 2017 peacefully with her loving family at her side.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Timmonsville. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. prior to the 3:30 p.m. service at the funeral home.

Janet was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late C.C. and Genoise Lee Collins. Janet was the Co-Owner and Office Manager of Sunshine Motors. "Mam-Me" as she was lovingly called by everyone, was actively involved in the Piney Grove Church and its children's programs.

She was married to the late Rod Matthews.

Surviving are a son, Davey Grainger; a daughter, Gwen Grainger both of Timmonsville; a brother, Cammie (Peggy) Collins; a sister, Diane (Mack) Floyd all of Effingham; four grandchildren, Jenni Grainger, Morgan Grainger, Brelee Calhoun and Hunter Calhoun. Extended family that has a special place during this time are, Michelle and John Taylor and their children, Stormy and Jonathen, Karen and Margaret Coward and her friends, Mary Ann Blackwell and Martha Barwick. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Christopher Grainger.

The family would like to thank McLeod Oncology Department for the care and support during this time. Also, Gwen would like to "thank" the Staff of the McLeod's Children Department, PICU for the love and concern shown to her family during this time.
