Timmonsville, SC- James R. "Sonny" Sewell, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday,January 25, 2020.

A memorial service will be Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of  Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will speak to those attending after the service.

"Sonny" was born in Florence County, the son of the late James and Inez Anderson Sewell.  He was retired from E.I. Dupont as a Technican .  He served in the United States Air Force and was on active duty for more than two years. He was a pastor in Plant City, FL and Hemingway, SC. He loved his family tremendously and enjoyed flying.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Rose Marie Huggins Sewell; a daughter, Suzanne Parker; two sisters, Libby Richardson, Sandy Sewell and his grandchildren, "Sonny" (Regina) Brown and Heather Marie O'Brien; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Faith (Zachary) Thompson, Andrew James Brown, Lanie Grace Brown, John Charles O'Brien and Collin James O'Brien and a great-great-granddaughter, KaleighAnn Grace Thompson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Rogers and a great-great-granddaughter, Kacey Rose Thompson.
