Florence, SC – James Wayne Smith, 81, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 26, 2023 at his family farm in Timmonsville, SC.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will speak to those attending after the service. A private burial will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was born in Florence County, the son of the late James F. and Janie Sue Oliver Smith.  He served in the US Army.   He worked until retirement as a Quality Control Manager at DuPont.

He was married to Karen Brown Smith.  His first marriage was to the late Faye Lee Smith.

Surviving are two sons, Jason (Katharine) Smith, Barry W. Smith, step-sons, Alton (Regina) Love, Jimmy (Kelly) Love; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Smith, Evan Love (David) Childers, Maggie Love, Mac Love and Chase Love.
