Timmonsville, SC - James Franklin McKenzie, 73, passed away on Friday April 14, 2023 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Florence.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

James was born in Mullins, SC, the son of the late Emerson F. "Frank" and Tiney Rachel Lovelace McKenzie.  He worked for many years as a specialist installing floor covering. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Florence.  He enjoyed spending time in his yard, with his farm animals, his dogs and bird watching.  He had a special place in his heart for his wife, children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Frances Bramlett McKenzie; son, James "Lee" (Melissa) McKenzie; daughter, Nancy (Frank) Kincaid; brother, Lloyd (Lynn) McKenzie; two sisters, Joann (Tracy) Turbeville, Jeanette Fowler and his grandchildren, Hanna, Cassie, Logan and Kaitlyn.
