Obituary

Effingham - Hugh James Calder, 71, died in a local hospital on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in a local hospital.

A graveside service will be Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery, 1303 Olanta Hwy, Effingham. The family will speak to those attending after the service.

Mr. Calder was born in Florence County, the son of the late Charley Damon and Druscilla Turner Calder. He was the owner of Pee Dee Boat Company. Hugh was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple. He was retired from the US Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Powell Calder, Effingham; two sons, Jamie Calder, Effingham, Chris (Lailaine) Calder, Timmonsville; daughter, Crystal C. (Linwood) Beard, Florence; three brothers, Charlie (Aida) Calder, Willie (Barbara) Calder, Ray Calder all of Florence; grandchildren, C.C., Dillon, Christina, Jessica, Brooklyn, Jazzmine and Kelley.
