Helen McElveen Houser, 78, went to sleep on Sunday, May 12, 2024 and woke up in her new heavenly home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lynchburg.  Burial will follow in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lynchburg.  The family will share a time of visitation with friends and family on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence.

Helen was born in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah McElveen.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lynchburg.  Helen worked as a licensed Cosmetologist, taking care of the ladies in the area.  She was a loving mother to her two children and grandchildren.  A passion that she had was caring for dogs.

Surviving are her son, Ray Ervin (GiGi) Houser; daughter, Gina (Kevin) Kirby and the light of her life her four grandchildren, Preston Houser, Payton Houser, Lexi Kirby, Tucker Kirby and the father of her children, Glenn Ray Houser.

A special "THANK YOU" to the caregivers and staff of Southland Health Care for all the love and support given to Helen during her stay.
