Harrel Anderson Jordan, precious husband to Betty Jo, Dad to Crystal (Chad) and Andy (Lauren), and Pops to Anderson, Georgianna and Bentley, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026. He was 77.

Harrel was born in the Lake Swamp area of Timmonsville, SC, the son of the late Jesse and Hannah Anderson Jordan. As a child he grew up in Lake Swamp Baptist Church and then enjoyed worshipping and serving at Immanuel Baptist in Florence. For more than twenty years, Harrel held positions as usher and children’s teacher there. He graduated from Lamar High School and afterwards served his country in the US Army.

He retired from a career with Florence Steel Erectors.

Harrel later took great joy in hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family. He, along with Betty Jo, taught his children that faith in God provides a strong foundation in all things, and that doing work that they loved and doing it to the best of their ability, brings pride.

One of his final dreams was to move closer to nature by the lake, and knew how blessed by God his family was, when that dream was realized. He will be so greatly missed by all of us.

In addition to his parents and grandson, Bentley, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ashton, Jerry, Lynn, Jimmy, and Jesse; sisters, Jesna and Jean.

A celebration of Harrel’s life will be held at 3:00 pm at Lake Swamp Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Gary Anderson and the Rev. Dr. Joe Willard will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartsville First Baptist Church Children’s and Youth Ministry.
