Timmonsville, SC – Lt. Col.  (Retired) Harold Lee Clay, 70, passed away on Thursday March 17, 2022.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church, Timmonsville.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Clay was born in Marlboro County, the son of Cora Pate Carabo and the late Luther Kinney Clay.  Harold worked at WestRock Paper Mill and retired with 35 years of service. He served in the National Guard and retired as Lt. Col.  Harold was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.  He was involved with many of the church activities.  One of his joys in life was being called "PaPa".  He enjoyed spending time fishing with friends, and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and Duke Blue Devil fan.

Surviving are his mother and her husband, Leon; his wife of fifty years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Gibbs Clay; two daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Hoffman, Ashley (Ross) Wise and his five grandchildren, Amber Hoffman, Kennedy Hoffman, Kallie Hoffman, Payton Wise and Hadleigh Wise.  He is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Clay and sister, Mildred Allen.
