It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Brown McElveen, a devoted family member and cherished friend, who left this world peacefully on Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at the age of 85. Born April 14th, 1941, Gloria was a lifelong resident of Timmonsville, South Carolina, where she was a beloved part of the community.

Gloria retired from her dedicated service with DHEC, where she made numerous contributions, and was a treasured member of the Sardis Baptist Church. Gloria was very active within Sardis Baptist Church, offering her wisdom and kindness to everyone around her.

A celebration of Gloria's life will be held at Sardis Baptist Church on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, at 2 pm. Family and friends are invited to a visitation one hour before the service at 1 pm. Following the funeral service, Gloria will be laid to rest at Sardis Church Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard McElveen. She is survived by her loving daughters Glenda (Todd) Gilmore,

Kelli (Dan) Baker, and Sherry (Gene) Strickland, her brother Charlie (Cana) Brown, and her sisters Linda Weymouth and Lee (Bill) Hinds. Her legacy continues through her 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and another eagerly awaited great-grandchild. Along with her special nieces and nephews.
