Adolph "Gil" Araujo, 95, of Florence, SC, entered into his heavenly rest on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Born in Fullerton, CA, he was a son of the late Alex Araujo and the late Connie Romo Araujo. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Staff Sergeant and Military Police Officer, serving in the Korean War. While stationed at Turner Air Force Base in Georgia, he met the love of his life, Helen Stewart. He enjoyed golfing and played until he was in his 90's, walking nine holes three times a week. He would often share his love of woodworking every Christmas season with his family in the form of handmade gifts.

The family would like to extend special gratitude to Dr. Ryan Williams and staff for their loving care. They would also like to thank VA nurse, Pam Ball; special caregiver, Marilyn Webson; caregiver, Janeth Williams for all the care given.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kenneth Michael Araujo (Gaye), Helen Connie Araujo Harker (Jim); sister, Sarah Araujo Woodruff (John); grandchildren, Allison Pierce (Jason), Jennifer Greene (Wesley), Kelly Roeder (Dustin); great-grandchildren Dylan, Taylor, and Demi Greene, Cade, and Cate Frances Pierce, Cameron, and Coleman Roeder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Araujo; brothers, Alex Araujo, Jr., David Araujo; sisters, Stella Mary Araujo Anderson, Esther Araujo Kakara Morgan, Martha Ray Araujo Barajas.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends after the service. The Directors of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home are caring for the family.
