Florence, SC – George Henry Willis, 76, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

Graveside services with military honors will be Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Florence National Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the home of his son, 2342 McGown Drive, Florence, SC.

The family will have a time of visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Willis was born in Gadsden, Alabama, the son of the late Bennett and Vera Mae Rivers Willis.  He retired from the US Army with 40 plus years of service as Staff Sgt.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Meryll "Merrie" Meachum Willis; son, Bennett J. (Crystal) Willis; daughter, Katharine R. (Jason) Smith; brother, Marion F. Willis; sisters, Sarah W. (John) Wilburn, Darleene W. (B.R.) Phillips, and a special sister-in-law, Jami Beams; 3 three grandsons, Richard Machnowski, Hunter S. Willis, Tyler B. Willis; four granddaughters, Elizabeth A. Smith, Amanda Machnowski, Leila H. and Lilly S. Willis; and two great-granddaughters, Piper M. Willis, Ivy Renea Machnowski.  He is preceded in death by a son, George H. Willis, Jr., daughter, Kathleen W. Machnowski, sister, Estelle W. Miller.
