Timmonsville, SC – George Ervin Hatchell, Sr. 79, passed away on Tuesday, Nov.28, 2017 after an illness.

A funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will have a time of Visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Hatchell was born in Florence County, the son of the late Clyde Wilbur and Eunice Langston Hatchell. George was a member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. He retired from the US Navy with 20 years of service. After his tour he worked with ESAB as a Machine Operator.

Surviving are a son,George E. "Buddy" Hatchell,Jr and his wife Sherry, Timmonsville; two brothers, Frank (Emily) Hatchell, Mack (Annie Pearl) Hatchell; grandchildren, Garrett Hatchell, Kayla Hatchell, Christine Haughn, Austin Haughn. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Eunice Haughn, two brothers, Gene and Wilbur Hatchell.

Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, is assisting the family with arrangements.
