Florence, SC – George Alan Blackmon, 59, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00  Thursday evening at the Funeral Home and at other times at his home at 1710 Hopper Lane, Florence.

Mr. Blackmon was born in Florence County, the son of Mary King Blackmon and the late Waldron Monroe Blackmon, Sr.  He worked with Palmetto Machine and Fabrication for 20 plus years.  He enjoyed NASCAR racing, Dirt Track racing, Go-Kart Racing, hunting and spending time at the beach with his family.  With his love of family, George chose to be a tissue and organ donor.

Surviving are his wife of 4 years, Sheila Hancock Blackmon; two sons, George (Kim) Blackmon, Jr. and Thomas (Tabitha) Blackmon; step-sons, James Mays, Thomas (Zoey) Mays; one daughter, Tiffany (Richard) Parker; two step-daughters, Courtney (Dylan) Bartlett, Allyssa Williamson; two brothers, Nicky (Angela) Blackmon and Timmy Blackmon; one sister, Wendy (Rick) Carr and his eleven grandchildren, Bianca, Raven, James, Trip, Bradley, Destini, Paisley, Arianna, Graham, Raeleigh and Ryan.
