Gene Thomas Watford, 77, passed into rest on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct 8, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  The family will receive visitors in the chapel beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Mr. Watford was born in Florence County, the son of the late Albert E. and Rosa Rauch Watford.  He served his country in the United States Army.  Gene worked with UPS driving one of the "Brown Trucks" where he met many people through his work.  He was a member of Effingham Church of God.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Sandra Benton Watford; sons, Wayne (Sheree) Watford, Jason Selph; daughter, Chrissa (Steve) Sansbury; brother, Larry (Linda) Watford and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Gene is preceded in death by brothers, Ashton, Paul and sisters, Sherbi Morris, Barbara Martin, Patricia Nettles.
