Florence- On Sept. 1, 2015,we lost a loving soul, Gary "Gator" Lane,Jr.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home,with Masonic Rites. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion, South Carolina. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gary,65, was born in Marion, SC, the son of the late Gary, Sr. and Elise Brasington Lane.He was the owner of Earthworks Construction, Inc. He was a member of Amity Masonic Lodge No.340 A.F.M.. Gary was a medal of Honor Recipient with the Omar Shriners in Mt.Pleasant, SC., past president of the Pee Dee Shrine Club, as well as a member of the Omar Provost Guard, the Omar Daredevils and the Royal Order of the Jesters Court No 113. He was a gentle giant who had wise words for anyone who would listen, which was just about everyone.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Brenda Rogers Lane, Florence; a daughter, Krystal Lane Gandy and three grandchildren, Kelsey, Brooks and Olivia; four sisters, Pat, Judy, Diane and Peggy.
