Frances McGee McLaughlin, 84, entered into rest on Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born in Florence, SC, she was a daughter of the late Clyde McGee and the late Mattie Smith McGee.
She was a charter member of Unity Christian Fellowship Church. Frances was a devoted Christian and mother to her girls. She dedicated herself to serving the Lord and her family. She was faithful to her church and had a kind and gentle spirit that often led her to help others. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and was known for sending cards to the sick and discouraged. She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with her friends. Frances had an eye for detail and fashion. Other than serving God, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her Poodle, Lulu. She will be missed immensely.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Lee Morris (Andy), Karen Lee Fennell (James Marks), Connie Lee Garland (Shawn), brother, Frank McGee (Zella); sisters, Rachel Lee, Peggy Leviner; grandchildren, Steve Fennell, Ashley Tarlton (Jason), Dusty Springs, Kelly Garland; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Tartlon, Dylan Tarlton, Gavin Fennell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Abo" McLaughlin; brothers, Laverne McGee, Runt McGee, Charles McGee; sisters, Judy Lane, Louise Tallent.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, at Unity Christian Fellowship Church. The Rev. Lloyd Akerman and the Rev. Warren Matthews will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
