Timmonsville – Evelyn Sansbury Hill, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after passing away peacefully in her home after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hill was born November 9, 1933 to the late Homer Theo and Ruth Huggins Sansbury in Lamar, South Carolina.

Prior to her retirement she worked for Union Carbide for twenty years. She was an avid volunteer at McLeod Cardiac Rehab for fifteen years.

A Sunday School teacher at Sardis Baptist Church for decades, she was also the chairwoman of the Sardis Baptist Church Connection for several years. Mrs. Hill was a member of the Hicks-Koon Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, James Russell Hill. She is also survived by her children: Dianne Hill Anderson (Elwood), Rusty Hill (Donna), Bobby Hill (Joyce), and Terri Hill Melton, all of Timmonsville; Her seven grandchildren: Melanie Matthews Rivers, Amy Holloran (Keith ), Mandy Hill McGee (Grant), Robby Hill, Beau Anderson, Ryan Hill (Haley), Hillary Melton, nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Beasley, and several nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by two brothers, Eston and Jack Sansbury.
