Evelyn Kathleen Jeffords Hanna, 92, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday October 22, 2025.

Evelyn was a woman of deep faith. She loved Jesus above all and lived her life as a reflection of that devotion. She retired from Lazy Boy, where she worked for many years. She was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the "JOY Club" meetings. Evelyn loved her church and was faithful until she could not go.

Born August 15, 1933 in Sardis, S.C. she was the daughter of Ervin and Nora (Blaton) Jeffords. She was married to the late Gonzalee Hanna.

Surviving are: three daughters, Cheryl Amerson (Henry, "Bo"); Karen F. Welch and Kimberly F. Hyman (Gregg);one sister, Mary Margret Altman; grandchildren, Pamela, Stephanie, Tammy, Tiffany, Crystal, Jessica, Emily and Aprille; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Roger Dale Freeman, and Mark Wayne Freeman; three brothers, David Jeffords, Liston Jeffords and Johnnie Jeffords; one sister, Louise J. Bone; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 in the Chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends following the service.

A private burial will be at Lake Swamp Cemetery at a later time.
