Timmonsville, SC – Ethel S. Gibbs, 93, went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 24, 2023.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 12:00 noon in Sardis Baptist Church with visitation beginning one hour before the service at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ethel was born in Sumter County, the daughter of the late James E. and Celia Reynolds Smith.  She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.  She worked in the patient admitting office at McLeod Hospital until she retired.  She was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.

She was married to the late "Jack" Gibbs.

Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Clay; sons, Freddie Gibbs, Bobby Gibbs, Clark Gibbs; brothers, Jesse Ray Smith, Sidney Smith; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Gibbs; brothers, Thomas Smith, Harry Smith, Roy Smith, Alford Smith; sisters, Ruby Hickson and Betty Geddings; grandson, Eric Gibbs and son-in-law, Harold Clay.
