Ernest Chappell, 65, passed away on Thursday, Nov.7, 2024 after a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning 1:00 p.m. before the service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Chappell was born in Darlington County, the son of the late Martin and Lessie Cagle Chappell.  He worked with Sumter Utilities as a Foreman.

He was married to the late Jeannette Morris Chappell.

Surviving are three sons, Ernie (April) Chappell, Bobby (Callie) Chappell, Danny (Danielle) Chappell; brother, Jimmy Chappell; sisters, Ginny (Jerrold) Ray, Brenda (Randy) Herron; his beloved partner, Marie Smith and a number of grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Ernest is preceded in death by a son, Chris Chappell.
