Emma Hill Skinner, 91, of Florence passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning Feb. 27, 2025. Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon March 2, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 2:00 before the service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place Monday, Mar. 3, 2025 at Florence Memorial Gardens Emma was born in the Sardis community of Florence County, the daughter of the late Foster and Annie Oliver Hill. She graduated from Sardis High School. In 1951, she was one of the members of the Lower State Basketball Championship team from Sardis High School. Emma was a member of Peace Freewill Baptist Church for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Emma was married to the late William H. Skinner. Surviving are three sons, Bill (Kay) Skinner, Tommy Skinner and John (Tyra) Skinner; her five grandchildren, Sarah (Burns) Yarborough, Lauren (Nick) Kremidas, Mary Skinner, Jonathan Skinner, Will Skinner and three great-grandchildren.
