Born in Florence, Elaine was the daughter of the late James Allen and Emily McLaughlin Pierce.

Elaine was the widow of the late William Sandusky and she was a homemaker

Surviving are: her brother, Ronald Allen Pierce (Deborah); two sisters, Kay Armstrong (Bruce), Faye Joye; (Eddie) three step-sons, William J. Sandusky, Everette "Bryant" Sandusky, and Terry Scott Smith; and one step-daughter, Cheri Elizabeth Sandusky.
