Murrells Inlet, SC – Edgar Lee "Ed" Blackmon, 88, passed away Jan. 6, 2018.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home,Florence,SC.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.The family will speak to those attending before the service beginning at 1:30 until 2:00 p.m.

"Ed" was born in Boardman,NC,the son of the late Edgar B.and Clara Lee Ward Blackmon.He worked as a Carpet and Tile Installer.He was a kind and loving brother,father and friend, willing to help anyone in a time of need.

He was married to the late Ann C. Blackmon who passed away in April of 2017.

Surviving are two sons, Chip (Brenda) Blackmon, Phil Blackmon; two daughters,Jamie Blackmon, LeAnn Blackmon; a sister, Elizabeth Blackmon all of the Murrells Inlet, Surfside Beach area; also six grandchildren,three great-grandchildren and his two adopted daughters, Laura Wallace and Mandy Benton. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn B. Blackmon.
