Florence, SC, - Earl Novel Powell, 71 died at his residence Wednesday, June1, 2017.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. A time of visitation will follow the service until 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Powell was born in Williamsburg County, the son of the late Novel and Amanda Ard Powell. He was a Manager for Hardee's for more than 20 years. After retiring from Hardee's, he received his certification as an electrician and enjoyed doing electrical service work.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Sharpe Powell of Florence; two sisters, Betty Bell, Barbara Calder; one grandson, Christian Warren Powell and a special nephew, Gene Anderson. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Charity Marie Powell and a brother, James U. Powell.
