Douglas Wayne Singleton, 83, of Timmonsville, SC, peacefully passed away on November 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 3, 1942, in Conway, SC, Wayne lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Linda Singleton and his son Joseph "Art" Singleton and daughter-in-law Heather. He was a proud grandfather to his two granddaughters, Whitley and Jessica, who held a special place in his heart and whom he lovingly let "boss him around" when they were young. His loyal four-legged companion, Archer, rarely left his side and will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his siblings: Arnold (Mary) Singleton, Frances Allen, and Johnella Hinson. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jessie Singleton, and his brothers and sisters: Arthur "Bubba" Singleton, Bill Singleton, John D. Singleton, Ray Singleton, Carolyn Anderson, and Jan Satterfield. Wayne spent his career with Lance Corporation, where he worked faithfully for many years before retiring. Though humble in nature, he took great pride in a job well done. In his younger years, Wayne found joy in simple, meaningful moments—fishing with his son, building and tinkering alongside his brother Arnold, and making memories with his granddaughters, whom he cherished beyond measure. In his later years, he found peace at home on his back porch, keeping an eye on the place he loved, listening to his favorite records—especially Don Williams—and sharing countless cherished conversations with Linda. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his gentle humor, and the love he gave so freely. His family takes comfort in the legacy he leaves behind and the memories that will live on in each of them. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025, in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
