Doris Miller Hancock , age 98, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and grace. Born to loving parents, Doris was a devoted daughter, cherished sister, beloved mother, doting grandmother, loving aunt and a dear friend to many. Her life was a testament to the values she held dear—faith, family, and friendship.
Doris was a lifelong member of her church, where she found great joy and purpose. Her unwavering faith and deep love for her church community were evident in her every action. She was known for her kindness, always offering a smile or a helping hand to those in need. Her gracious spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will be a blessing to those who had the immense privilege of being a part of her life.
Doris will be forever missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the lives she touched will remain in our hearts forever.
Doris was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late Charlie and Rosa Lee Tedder Miller. She was married to the late Jack W. Hancock and was a dedicated member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Florence.

Surviving are two daughters, Vondaree Lupo, Cynthia (Charles) Watford; seven grandchildren Vonda Lupo, Scott (Tracy) Watford , Kevin (LeAnne) Lupo, Dean (Emelie) Carlson, David (Mary) Carlson, Summer Sines, Holly Watford and sixteen great grandchildren, Tyler Watford, Hannah Watford, Tristan Balfour, Chase Sines, Andrew Carlson, Sam Carlson, Annika Carlson, Elsa Carlson, Chloe Carlson, Jonas Carlson, Emmie Carlson, Viking Carlson, Magnus Carlson, Freya Carlson, Kolton Lupo, Wyatt Lupo and one great great grandchild, Kennedy Blake Watford. Doris also leaves, sister-in-laws, Vileta Miller, Serena Hancock, Betty (
Edsel) Williams and many nieces and nephews that cherished and loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Carlson and her husband Dean Carlson, brother, Ernest Miller, sister, Ina Lou Beard, son-in-law, Jack Lupo.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to those attending after the service. Burial will take place at Florence Memorial Gardens at a later date.
