Florence, SC – Donnie Joe Godwin, 71, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 25,2024.

The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Godwin was born in Florence, Alabama, the son of the late Dexter L. and Mary Jo Lawson Godwin.  He retired from West Rock, formerly the Paper Mill in Florence.

He served his country in the US Navy.  Donnie was a member of Elim Baptist Church.

He was a member of Oak Grove Masonic Lodge #378. His hobbies and interests included bird watching, spending time outdoors working in the garden and watching Alabama College football.

Surviving are two sons, Donnie Wayne Godwin and Bobby Garland; brother, Bill (Lisa) Godwin; sisters, Vickie (Joe) Griffin, Sandra (Van) Kazilieris; a number of grandchildren and three nephews.
